What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing and Inventory Specialist position at Taher, Inc?
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for all purchasing and inventory functions at the Culinary Center. We are looking for an individual who is committed to controlling costs and ensuring accuracy of all information related to purchasing and inventory. The Purchasing Manager will report to the Director of Operations.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures inventory and cost of raw materials are accurate in FlexiBake - responsible for entire purchasing and inventory process
- Creates purchase orders, receives, and verifies costs within FlexiBake
- Troubleshoots inventory issues and communicates with production any relevant issues
- Monitors fluctuations in product cost and acts and communicates accordingly
- Works with vendors to always ensure best possible pricing
- Works with the corporate purchasing department to ensure purchasing capabilities are in alignment with Culinary Center needs
- Conducts weekly inventory of all raw materials
- Manages inbound and outbound logistics and Fleet
- Works in tandem with R&D to provide accurate costs for new items
- Provides support to Great Northern Baking for purchasing and sourcing as needed
- Hires, trains, promotes, and disciplines driving staff as needed
- Ensures the driver schedules are accurate and staffed appropriately
- Performs other related duties as assigned by leadership

- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing and inventory experience in food or a perishable commodity
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to focus on multiple issues simultaneously
- Ability to work and make decisions independently
- Strong technical computer skills including MS Office and other platforms
- Strong leadership, organizationand customer service skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Successfully pass a criminal background check
