Position Purpose:
As part of the Support department, you will be providing support to customers during breakdowns and general enquiries. Additionally, you will carry out system upgrades, modifications and inspections/maintenance. Some basic mechanical work will be included in this role.
Main Outcomes of the Position:
- Test, configure and prepare equipment for use on site.
- Control system commissioning.
- Specifying and planning works, including basic electrical design.
- Control system inspections, maintenance and testing plus basic mechanical maintenance.
- Play an active role in the support team and work with other departments.
- Follow TAIT QHSE ISO and Service & Support policies and procedures.
- Make sure all final reports, documentation and tickets are kept in order and up to date, logging all work appropriately
Expectations:
- Maintain, manage and share offsite backups of all client data.
- Ensure that Support projects are planned, managed and executed in a timely, cost-effective, profitable and professional manner.
- Provide a prompt, direct client service and appropriate technical support to the end user via phone, email, online and in-person.
- Be able to travel at short notice, possibly internationally to support clients with emergency breakdowns. Be on site within 90 minutes for London clients.
- Available online during the daytime and when required for world and London on-call services.
- Provide show cover as required.
- Diagnose, review and prioritize resolution of issues and tickets reporting back to the Support Manager or Senior Support Manager promptly.
- Train end users on TAIT equipment.
Requirements:
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent vocational experience.
- Accustomed to working directly with clients
- Experience of large control systems
- Experience in the design of industrial motion control systems.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Good knowledge in PLC programming.
- Good knowledge in control theory.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Good aptitude for electrical and mechanical fault finding.
- Good knowledge of functional safety requirements.
- Working knowledge of Siemens TIA, Siemens Step7, Siemens Simotion and Siemens WinCC an advantage.
- DOLD Safemaster Pro, CTSoft and Beckhoff TwinSafe an advantage.
- Knowledge of specific user interface software.
