Position: Accountant
Location:
Gastonia, NC
Ideal Candidate:
- Open to both entry-level and seasoned candidates
- Strong people skills, able to work with vendors and various departments
- Transportation industry experience is a plus but not required
- Potential to understand and contribute to the big picture
- Work with payables, deal with carriers, and manage broker contracts
- Handle billing and interact with various departments
- Oversee the billing department and manage payables
- Prepare reports for the President and Controller
- Support sales team members with client inquiries and documentation
- Assist and monitor Accounts Receivable collections and customer disputes
- Resolve issues with carrier invoices impacting billing and Cost of Sales
- Conduct weekly Accounts Payable check runs and forecast cash flow
- Coordinate billing and accounts payable for month-end close (goal: complete entries within 9-10 working days after month-end)
- Provide backup coverage for daily management reporting for the Controller as needed
- Thorough understanding of general accounting principles
- Hands-on approach to work collaboratively with Operations, Dispatch, and Accounting departments
- Experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Proficiency in Excel and general familiarity with accounting software
- Ability to update KPI reports and support billing inquiries
- Report directly to the Controller
- Work closely with three team members who will assist in various accounting functions
- Collaborative and supportive work environment
