Primary purpose:
Provide engineering technical development, oversight, project execution and project management responsibilities in support of Carbon Capture and Sequestration projects. Coordinate and communicate with the various Tallgrass commercial and operational groups to support business development and be expected to take a defined business commitment, apply basic engineering analytical concepts, and develop a project and engineering/execution plan for the successful completion of a project to meet the business objectives.
Work with Tallgrass's various customers, the public, government agencies and other stakeholders to communicate the project goals and objectives to advance the project from concept to design/engineering to construction and ultimately through the realization of operations.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Evaluates and prioritizes exploration opportunities and their value.
- Serve as on-site representative related to Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) projects.
- Provides expert judgment for the design and implementation of oil and gas wells.
- Prepare project scopes, estimates, budgeting details and execution plans for CCS projects.
- Coordinate the bidding process to ensure competitive and effective costing.
- Create bid packages and scopes for contractors and vendors.
- Interact with contractors throughout all phases of project construction and commissioning.
- Effectively plan schedule, and manage multiple CCS projects concurrently to meet customer's needs and expectations.
- Provide project management to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget and develop strategies for necessary adjustments.
- Prepare and deliver presentations that communicate project proposals, descriptions, and status to upper management, governmental agencies and/or the public.
- Manage projects in a manner that assures safety, reliability, and environmental and human impacts are mitigated while meeting the project goals (including but not limited to: Schedule, Budget, Safety, and Overall Quality).
- Provide leadership and direction to project team that may be comprised of internal and external service providers including but not limited to Project Engineers, Planning Engineers, Operation Engineers, and Environmental Engineers to ensure project success.
- Organize projects in the Company's financial control system, review and manage expenditures and commitments, forecast cash flow, and prepare monthly cost control reports.
- Follow all Tallgrass Policies and Procedures.
- Perform all job duties in accordance with Federal, State, and Local Regulations.
- Provide or direct the appropriate level of project documentation during the project and following project completion to assure compliance with the policies of Corporate, Federal, State and other governing bodies.
- Ensure ongoing improvement through evaluation of current processes.
- Effectively interface with customer representatives, regulators, Tallgrass staff, and others as required.
- Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Project or Construction Management is required along with 10 years of relevant job experience in managing a variety of capital expansion projects in the midstream sector.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
- Project manager with 10 years' experience in process and petroleum engineering
- Experience in geological and petrophysical analysis related to CCUS
- Drilling engineering experience related to casing design, downhole equipment, surface equipment in formations related to UGS and CCUS
- Knowledge of PHMSA 1170/1171, EPA UIC Class VI disposal wells, EPA Subpart RR - Geologic Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide, and the ability to stay up to date with any future CO2 regulatory and compliance and governance and associated well compliance.
- Knowledge of well logging, seismic interpretation, recognition of the need for remediation and subsequent action plans through data analysis
- Must have a full complement of project management skills including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement, and permitting.
- Must possess a basic understanding of upstream, midstream and downstream projects.
- Knowledge of drilling equipment, operations, data feeds, trends and optimization.
- Experience in drilling optimization and real-time monitoring of drilling operations.
- Must possess a general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices, and processes related to the Pipeline business segment, associated business units, and internal and external customers.
- Understanding of basic economic analysis as it pertains to project justification.
- Solid leadership, communication, motivation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage projects(s) that will include working with individuals with varying disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels.
- Working knowledge of applicable regulations and agencies such as DOT, OSHA, and various state counterparts.
- Familiarity with DOT, NEC, ASME, API, and ASTM and other specifications, standards, and recommended practices typical in the natural gas or hazardous liquid transportation industry.
- Proficient in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
- Registered professional engineer.
- Training in project management software and techniques including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control systems, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement, and permitting is a plus.
- Experience managing the planning and execution of drilling projects, the development of oil and gas fields, and the analysis of reserves.
- Knowledge of natural gas and oil pipeline, plant, and pump station operations.
- Experience with FERC pipeline projects.
