DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engineering:
- Appropriate input in pre-FEED and FEED studies for Topsides related projects.
- Responsible to review, evaluate and make recommendations related to fabrication and installation to the ongoing engineering design effort for Construction projects.
- Develop / Review construction estimates for Topsides projects.
- Review project schedules for accuracy and recommend enhancements.
- Review and comment on relevant construction & installation documentation.
- Develop Project construction plans.
- Work with design team on issues of Constructability.
- Work with the multi-Discipline teams to identify Construction related interface items.
- Responsible to provide input to bid packages that involve construction or installation.
- Review work processes, plans and recommend improvements for implementation.
Fabrication: Onshore & Offshore
- Oversee fabrication & inspection efforts.
- Prepare / review fabrication reports prior to distribution.
- Review / approve tickets for inspection activities ahead of the invoicing.
- Review fabrication progress reports to ensure timely and accurate updates.
- Address schedule and manpower issues at the fabrication / installation site.
- Review and approval of Contractor’s procedures for receipt, storage, and control of Company purchased equipment and materials.
- Review and approval of Contractor’s schedule updating and earned progress.
- Continually evaluate the Contractor's performance in executing the contract(s) in areas of safety, quality, progress and contract compliance. Implement changes where improvements are needed.
Construction Planning:
- Monitor the project construction planning effort and provide oversight and direction.
- Participate in project HAZID/HAZOP and Risk Assessments.
- Oversee Engineering / Contractors / Operations to ensure construction related deliverables are submitted on-time with respect to the project schedules.
- Ensure all construction related project tasks are completed within internal, governmental and contractual requirements.
- Accompany the Engineering firms on trips to the field to scope projects.
Construction Planning (con’t):
- Review and comment on piping plans.
- Review and approval of all offshore construction schedules and plans.
- Ensure logistics planning in transportation for project personnel, equipment and materials.
- Work with Engineering company in construction planning / look-a-heads, assuring receipt of engineering deliverables in a timely manner.
- Work to develop offshore hook-up and installation plans to ensure proper and timely completion of offshore fabrication.
- Review and approval of Work Packs for site construction activities as required.
Offshore Execution:
- Ensure a strong level of HSE awareness and implementation.
- Oversee the offshore inspection effort.
- Manage the Offshore Project Representatives.
- Ensures facility operation is per Talos Energy’s Five Operational Priorities.
- Liaise with OIMs / PICs and Operations management on Construction issues.
- Prepare / Review construction reports ahead of distribution.
- Review / approve timesheets for offshore inspection activities ahead of the invoicing.
- Ensure construction progress reports for Management, provide timely and accurate updates on project progress.
- Review and approval of Contractor’s schedule updating and earned progress.
- Ensure proper staffing and provide onsite supervision as required.
- Oversee offshore movements of project personnel and equipment, assist in Logistics.
- Ensure proper coordination of field activities, operations, reporting, traceability, etc.
- Periodic / Regular offshore trips to worksite providing guidance and feedback to ongoing progress.
- Continually evaluate the Contractor's performance in executing the contract(s) in areas of safety, quality, progress and contract compliance. Implement changes where improvements are needed.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
- At least 15 years of on/offshore Construction related experience.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with Management, engineers, peers, Contractors and Regulatory personnel.
- Must have strong computer skills. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Project and Power Point).
- Ability to work in stressful conditions, think clearly, be both proactive and appropriately reactive.
- Ability to develop and maintain harmonious working relations with employees and contractors.
- Ability to effectively work with various personnel performing operational functions.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, work overtime as needed to meet deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Offshore employees must be able to consistently meet the following physical requirements for the duration of a shift (7-13 hours per day).
- STANDING – Ability to remain feet in an upright position at a workstation on hard/uneven surfaces (concrete/grating/steel) without moving about.
- WALKING – Ability to move about on foot on hard/uneven surfaces (concrete/grating/steel).
- LIFTING – Ability to raise or lower 50 lbs, from floor to waist, from one level to another.
- SWING ROPE – Must be able to transfer from boats to landing areas of the platforms during moderate to heavy seas.
- STAIRS – Ability to move up and down stairs while carrying equipment.
- BENDING/REACHING – Ability to bend the spine downward and forward at the waist. Ability to extend the hands and arms in any direction.
- HANDLING – Ability to hold, grasp and turn both hands with significant weight or resistance.
- PULLING/PUSHING – Ability to move equipment from one workstation to another.
- KNEELING – Ability to bend the legs at the knees to come to a rest.
- FINGER WORK – Ability to pick and pinch, working primarily with the fingers.
- TOLERANCE – Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures, adverse weather conditions, exposure to the elements, exposure to elevated noise/vibration and work in close quarters while wearing protective equipment and clothing.
- VISION – Must have depth perception to safely sense distance and sufficient peripheral vision to see objects and detect motion at wide angles.
- HEARING – Must understand detailed communication at normal levels and detect changes in sound levels.
- RESPIRATORY – Must be able to work in a variety of respiratory protection equipment.
- WORKING AT HEIGHTS- Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds to perform work at elevated locations.
