A rehabilitation services network in Virginia is currently seeking a new, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their staff as their Correctional Health Nurse to provide nursing care within an adult institution in Wise County. In this role, the Correctional Health Nurse (RN) will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating institutional patients per the standards of practice, including telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life supporting / emergency care.
Responsibilities:
The Correctional Health Nurse (RN) will be responsible for:- Providing total healthcare to offenders; maintaining continuity of care from admission to discharge.
- Responding to medical emergencies
- Medication administration; conduct sick call/medication refill
- Registered Nurses possess the ability to delegate tasks and work load and work hours, days, and locations, as assigned
- Providing employee health services in accordance with policy
- Providing coverage as needed to meet organizational needs
- Performing other duties, as needed
Qualifications
- 1 year of Clinical Nursing experience
- Graduate of a School of Nursing
- Active VA Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
