IMMEDIATE NEED FOR THE 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR POSITION: Lower School Student Care Aide

REPORTS TO: Designated School Principal, Director of Student Services
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: 10-Month/ Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY: The Student Care Aide works with an assigned student(s) as devised and followed by school documentation to ensure to the most extent as possible safety of a student in a general education setting and other school settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide appropriate care and follow necessary school documentation of assigned student(s) at all times throughout the school day as directed by teachers, school personnel and/or administration in the classroom setting and in other school settings.
- Provide safe passage for the student(s) in the classroom setting and during transitions to specials as indicated in appropriate plans and administrative directives.
- Arrive on time and perform job duties as directed. Follow school protocol for requesting time off and alert the school whenever possible of planned absences.
- Establish and maintain standards of student(s) safety and behavior that will keep the student(s) safe in the classroom and with fellow students.
- Positive relationship building with student(s) in a school setting.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE OF: - Child growth and development and behavior characteristics of students and students with disabilities.
- Behavior management and behavior strategies, techniques, methods and conflict resolution procedures.
- Socio-economic and cultural background differences of general student population; Cultural responsiveness.
- Technology including devices and computer programs.
- Commitment to the success of all children.
- Advocate and initiative taker for students and families.
ABILITY TO: - Communicate with colleagues to ensure safety of student(s) in the classroom and school settings.
- Communicate with parents and guardians as deemed necessary.
- Determine student progress.
- Inspire students and fellow staff to perform at his or her highest potential.
- Develop and maintain strong and professional relationships with Tapestry families and colleagues.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: - School based and classroom experience is preferred.
- Experience in working with children and children with disabilities is essential.
- High School diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
