What you’ll achieve

The Senior Associate Consultant serves as a pro bono practitioner, supporting a portfolio of client engagements in collaboration with engagement leads (Consultants or Senior Consultants) and engagement supports (Associate Consultants or other Senior Associate Consultants). The Senior Associate Consultant creates engagement deliverables, serves as point of contact for employee and/or nonprofit program participants, leads a small number of engagements with oversight, and supports the execution of internal practice-building projects.

The responsibilities and duties of the Senior Associate Consultant consist of (but are not limited to):

Client Relationship Management and Service Delivery (65%)

  • Manage and support a portfolio of 4–8 external engagements, in collaboration with engagement leads (Directors, Senior Consultants, Consultants, or other Senior Associate Consultants), helping to ensure that work is completed on time, in scope, and at the highest level of quality.
  • Serve as point of contact for employees and/or nonprofit participants.
  • Own the creation of deliverables for client engagements and, when relevant, manage Associate Consultants in the development of deliverables.
  • Lead the delivery of a small number of corporate or Pro Bono Consultant engagements, ensuring that the engagement is executed successfully and stays within scope.
  • Elevate client challenges and scope creep questions to the client relationship manager.

Practice Building/Training (20-35%)

  • Contribute to internal projects that help the Advisory Services team execute its work more effectively. Projects may be related to business development, marketing and communications, DEIA, strategic operations, or program innovation.
  • Gather, analyze, and share data on Advisory Services programming. Develop and share recommendations for new technology, process improvements, program materials, etc.
  • Collaborate with other Taproot teams and departments to develop or execute organization-wide strategies and initiatives related to the areas referenced above.

Field Building (0-5%)

  • Assist in the development of resources that help build the field of pro bono, often in collaboration with the Strategic Partnerships team, the Marketing & Communications teams, and/or external partners. Resources could include tools, presentations, or original research that equip pro bono practitioners and users with best practices and insights.
  • Push the field of pro bono forward by contributing to the development of resource library materials and thought leadership, including case studies, resources, webinars, convenings, and other content.
  • Support the execution of the Pro Bono Summit, including liaising with potential speakers, informing content, etc.

Strategic Direction and Vision (0-5%)

  • Help guide and inform the strategic direction of Taproot’s Advisory Services team by participating in strategic planning and implementation. This includes helping to assess team performance and supporting internal initiatives and decision-making that help build and support our practice.
  • Support successful execution of Advisory Services strategic and operational priorities through supporting the execution of program delivery and of practice building project work.
