We are seeking a full-time Special Operations Operator to work either the 3PM-11PM or 11PM-7AM shift, Monday – Friday. A mechanical aptitude test is required. Come join our team and be a part of our people first culture and commitment to making the world healthier, safer and more productive.
Responsible for applying bonding to mold inserts and deflashing molded parts. Operates rubber and plastic injection molding, rubber compression, plastic welding, powder coating and laser engraving machines. Applies vibra-seal and thread lubricants and make labels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Bonds parts by applying bonding agent to mold inserts.
- Deflashes molded parts, including removing excess rubber and plastic from parting line and runners.
- Operates plastic welding machine.
- Applies powder coating to parts, including masking/demasking areas as needed.
- Operates rubber and plastic injection molding machines.
- Deburs and sandblasts parts as necessary to comply with specifications.
- Completes daily production counts on paper and computer.
- Keeps molds clean during operation, some with fine detail.
- Maintains clean and orderly work area, including sweeping and removing debris.
- Makes sure that all parts manufactured conform to high visual and physical quality.
- Sets up and operates label printer and laminator.
- Applies vibra-seal and thread lubricant to anodized aluminum parts.
- Notifies supervisor of apparent problems with parts and/or machines.
- Problem solves and troubleshoots when appropriate.
- Sets up and operates laser engraving machine.
- Proactively offers suggestions for the improvement of a product, process or practice
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of and ability to physically and safely operate various machines and hand tools, including injection, compression, degreasing, sandblasting, laser engraving, plastic welding and powder coating machines, air and electric grinders, drill, hammer, knife and deflashing tools.
- Occasionally lifts a minimum of 55 pounds.
- Repeatedly lifts objects up to 15 lbs..
- Knowledge of and ability to make practical application of OSHA and company safety precautions and procedures.
- Ability to count and make simple arithmetic additions, subtractions and geometric equations.
- Ability to learn and comprehend basic computer skills.
- Skill and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to work alone with minimum direct supervision.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with other company personnel, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
- Ability to occasionally work extended hours.
