Powder Coating Technician Job Description

Tate, a global leader in innovative solutions for the built environment, is seeking a skilled Powder Coating Technician to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing powder coating operations and equipment operation, ensuring effective collaboration with other manufacturing departments, quality, and management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure high-quality application of powder coatings to fabricated components.
• Prepare manufactured products for powder coating by blasting and chemically washing off products prior to powder coating.
• Assist in moving carriages and carts in and out of spray booths.
• Clean and maintain powder coating guns and equipment.
• Clean booth thoroughly during each color change.
• Troubleshoot powder coating equipment.
• Touch up and rework material, as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed by Team Leader or Supervisor as production needs require.
• Maintain good housekeeping and follow established safety procedures.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Maintain awareness of individual contribution to and impact of quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
• Experience in powder coating a plus, but not required.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Able to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse workforce.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Ability to use various tools and measuring instruments.
• Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift.
• Must be able to distinguish shades and colors.
• Must have strong knowledge of material prep and powder application.
• Must understand powder coating equipment adjustments and maintenance.
