What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Analyst 2 position at Taxation & Finance, State?
Bachelor’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or related field; and three years of experience working in data analysis, visualization, modeling, and/or mining.
A master’s degree in the above fields may substitute for one year of experience.
A Ph.D. may substitute for two years of experience.
Preferred qualifications: Candidates with strong data analysis skills and programming experience using one or more of the following tools: SPSS Modeler, SPSS Statistics, SAS, Python, R, Stata, Tableau, SQL, AQT, Cognos, and GIS systems.
This position is in Albany, NY
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Guide and develop the creation of data assets to support the needs of the Department.
- Design and execute analyses to answer questions using a variety of approaches (tabulations, visualizations, supervised and unsupervised learning, predictive and retrospective analysis, statistics, machine learning, etc.)
- Supervise junior staff members; train and develop them to ensure they acquire the necessary skills to be successful; assign and review the programming and statistical work of others.
- Interpret and draw conclusions from analyses; deliver findings to clients along with potential extensions.
- Write clear and concise results summaries for policy, business, and technical audiences.
- Coordinate a portfolio of projects; estimate time requirements, and work with management to set priorities.
- Develop the skills of the office in new and advanced areas.
- Lead the systems management, data management, and testing of systems used for analysis; develop scripts and data pipelines to automate these tasks.
- Comply with Office of Human Resource Management, Affirmative Action, Code of Conduct, Ethics, and Internal Control policies and procedures; adhere to the Department’s time and attendance rules and regulations.
