Role Overview
The SEO Manager will be responsible for growing the companys organic presence and brand awareness by optimizing and managing an on-site and off-site SEO strategy. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in an SEO role and a passion for analytics, research, and performance measurement.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Analyzing existing SEO efforts
- Identifying areas of opportunity
- Partnering with the appropriate stakeholders to grow the SEO channel
This includes monitoring on-site technical performance, evaluating visual and content design, and growing off-site efforts such as backlinking.
This role will work across IT, development, design, business intelligence, product, marketing, and customer service to unify our efforts to reach new users and retain existing users using SEO best practices. In addition to working with nearly every internal department, the SEO Manager will align with external partners to increase brand awareness.
Responsibilities
- Manage technical requirements such as mobile and desktop page scores and load times, redirects, meta titles and descriptions, and site map maintenance
- Work with engineering and development to fix and maintain SEO optimizations across our websites
- Evaluate current on-page design and content performance through the lens of SEO while not compromising the user experience
- Perform keyword research and provide technical briefs to content, visual, and UX designers as needed
- Coordinate with content designers to optimize and create new content for our websites, blog, and off-site partnerships
- Assist the content design team in developing a roadmap and potential content investments identified through research and analysis
- Create a backlink and off-page strategy to grow brand awareness and overall qualified traffic to our websites
- Coordinate with the affiliate marketing program to uphold our brand reputation and take advantage of paid placements
- Work with Creative Ops to maintain, build, and refine the SEO strategy, backlog, and roadmap in our project management systems
- Create supporting documentation for development, design, and content team members
- Conduct competitive intelligence and communicate the findings to the necessary internal teams
- Stay ahead of SEO industry trends while also keeping an ear to the ground for tax industry-specific news and opportunities
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of digital analytics platforms and their impact on website success metrics
- Experience working in modern project management tools
- Strong quantitative research capabilities
- Excellent time management skills specific to being able to produce detailed, complex work that can be easily communicated
- Proven ability to work independently while incorporating and addressing thoughts and information from other team members
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and work with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to transform complex data into valuable and actionable insights
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Passion for problem solving and logistics
- Ability to collaborate effectively and prioritize work as it relates to the needs of the business and the seasonality of the industry
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
