Position Summary


Responsible to support coordination of on-campus event logistics primarily associated with the summer conference program, departmental events, campus events, and external organizations. Events may vary from small meetings to high-profile campus-wide university gatherings. Responsibilities require ensuring detailed plans are executed according to stakeholder needs, a high level of customer service to engage with internal and external stakeholders, and flexibility to accommodate outside-of-normal-working-hours job requirements and varying demand.


Duties and Responsibilities


This position is primarily responsible to:

  • Testify to personal experience of salvation in Jesus Christ, affirm belief in the University’s Statement of Faith, abide by and practice our Life Together Covenant, and both personally agree with and support the Foundational Documents of Taylor University.
  • Assist with the scheduling and execution of events on campus.
  • Coordinate with various service departments to ensure needed support is provided, including Media Services, Facilities Services, Residence Life, and dining services.
  • Assist with conference physical logistics including residence hall set-up, turnover, laundering, inventory, and equipment management.
  • Assist with safety and related risk assessment for campus guests and staff to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and university policy.
  • Assist with the completion of administrative responsibilities related to budgeting, contract management, and scheduling for summer conference guests.
  • Create processes and procedures for utilizing housing and key assignments in real-time collaboration for check-in and check-out efficiencies.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise student conference staff, ensuring employment procedures and applicable compliance trainings are completed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience


  • High School Degree or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of two years of equivalent experience in management, organization, or event management in the conference and event profession, preferred.

  • Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with others from varying cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to represent Taylor University well to internal and external stakeholders and guests.
  • Excellent customer service skills, ability to deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time, and experience in complying with deadlines despite frequent interruptions.
  • Excellent management skills with the ability to mentor students in their professional development as well as oversee established procedures.
  • Competent in utilizing various computer software, including Microsoft Office suite. Experience in Banner and 25Live preferred.
  • Collaborative team player who can also work independently.

Special Requirements


  • Physical Demands
    • This position will require standing or sitting for long periods, bending, heavy lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Work Environment
    • Work is performed in a combination of a standard office environment and substantial outside work.
    • Due to varied requirements, early morning, evening, and weekend hours will be required in the months of May, June, and July; time off will be limited from May 15-August 5 and must be prearranged.
    • Occasional work on holidays may be required; high likelihood of required work for over summer holidays.
  • Environmental Conditions
    • This position will require substantial exposure to soiled linens, dirt, and the elements such as extreme heat and severe weather.

    This position is full-time, non-exempt, and located in Upland, Indiana
