What are the responsibilities and job description for the 7-12 At-Risk Teacher position at Teach Iowa?
The Central Lyon Community School District is seeking a passionate and highly motivated 7-12 grade At-Risk teacher for the 2023-24 school year. The certified teacher 7-12 teacher will be responsible for 1:1 and small group instruction focused on assignment completion, credit recovery, and online learning. Communicaiton between school and home is especially critical so that students have direct and positive support. The At-Risk teacher will work closely with the secondary principal, guidance counselor, juvenile court school liason officer, and classroom teachers to identify students in need of assistance, design and implement appropriate interventions, and monitor student progress.
The Central Lyon Community School District is located in Rock Rapids, and also serves students from Doon, IA. Rock Rapids is the county seat of Lyon County, has a population of 2500, and is only 35 miles east of Sioux Falls, SD and 55 miles west of the Iowa Great Lakes.
Central Lyon students were identified as high performing by the Iowa Department of Education in 2022. Central Lyon offers outstanding fine arts opportunities along with a host of co-curricular programs for students of all ages and competes in the Siouxland athletic conference.
