Finance Manager Job Description:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the finance manager performs specialized clerical and bookkeeping tasks in the recording and maintenance of precise fiscal records and financial data; applies fundamental bookkeeping knowledge and skills to varied bookkeeping tasks such as posting, checking entries, issuing checks, balancing accounts, and preparing financial reports for assigned accounts; prepares and maintains financial records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner while ensuring the integrity, security and accountability of TEARS, Inc. financial accounts.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform standard accounting duties, such as recording general ledger transactions, applying accounts receivable payments, and posting accounts payable
- Perform accurate record keeping of the assigned accounting duties in the applicable software system
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger in the designated accounting software system via routine account audits and reconciliations
- Assist in completing month-end and year-end closing accounting activities, including the annual organization audit and internal audits
- Assist in preparing financial reports and various grants that accurately and adequately represent the financial performance and health of the non-profit organization, including appropriate analyses, descriptions, and explanations
- Assist with grant-related accounting by reconciling grant revenue and expenditures, ensuring the following: expenses are tracked properly by grant as the funds are expended; expenses are applied only as authorized; spending by designation is readily available; grant requests for advances or reimbursements are filed properly; and appropriate reports are prepared and submitted
- Prepare and assist with developing grant budgets, annual operating budgets, business cases, and other forward-looking strategic analyses
- Assist with bi-monthly and monthly payroll processing, reporting, and reconciliations
- Maintain rigid adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Assist with special projects and information requests
- Assist Executive Director with any additional tasks requested
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance from an accredited institution
Skills and Qualifications:
Required
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in accounting including month-end closing, account reconciliations, and payroll
- Fundamental understanding of GAAP compliance and reporting requirements
- Excellent data analysis skills with a demonstrated ability to act on analytical results
- Proven ability to be organized and detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy
- Proficient in spreadsheet skills in manipulating large data sets
Preferred
- Healthcare industry experience
- Non-profit organization experience
- Insightful in accounting for grant activity
Work Environment:
- Willingness to work in an office environment in business casual attire and with appropriate safety protocols
- Will require occasional travel to additional TEARS office locations (approx. 80 miles)
Pay Range: $25-30 per hour
