What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employment Specialist position at TEEM Academy?
We are looking for a motivated, self-starters with the gift of identifying a person's potential who will help people enhance their strengths and improve their job skills. You will work with professionals who need guidance for career development. An Employment Specialist must be a mentor eager to support people. You must be able to discover people’s strengths and weaknesses and help them find what works best for them.
Responsibilities
- Develop effective job coaching and employment plans
- Communicate with clients to understand their goals and ambitions
- Assist clients to discover and overcome their personal barriers and set goals
- Guide clients in learning to complete job tasks
- Help in the development of motivation and skills
- Assist people with disabilities in developing social and life skills
- Advise on workplace accommodations for people with disabilities
- Cold call at various employers to determine if they are hiring
- Assist with job interview preparation and attending interviews with clients
- Assist in preparing, revising or creating a resume and cover letter for clients
- Local travel within an assigned territory
Requirements
- Previous experience working within the community, preferably in a sales role
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Extroverted personality
- Respect to diversity
- Ability to inspire and motivate
- Ability to adhere to regulations and standards
- High school diploma; BSc/BA in social studies or relevant field is a plus
- Experience in working with people with disabilities is a plus
- Must be able to pass a background check
