WGRZ, 2 On Your Side, the TEGNA owned affiliate in Buffalo, NY is seeking an innovative energetic, experienced, Meteorologist to join its already strong team. The ideal candidate has a passion to cover weather, be live in the field during breaking weather, write tell stories about our local weather/climate, and fill-in as necessary as an in-studio meteorologist. We are looking for a team player who embraces new technology and enjoys exploring new ways to present weather stories.
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate weather forecast using the most accurate weather technology in a multi-platform environment
- Produce clean and informative graphics
- Enterprise reports on local weather and climate
- Contribute to breaking weather coverage
- Support multiple platforms with engaging content tailored to the audience
- Anchor weather coverage in-studio as necessary
Job Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in meteorology or Atmospheric Science or certification required
- 3-5 years of experience required
- Ability to shoot, write, and edit
- A portfolio with examples of weather forecasts and reporting
- Strong social media skills including an active presence on Twitter and Facebook
- A passion for weather and climate stories
