Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for supervising employees and processes within the General Accounting Group that maintains the completeness and integrity of the Company’s general ledger, timely financial reporting and adequacy of its internal controls. The position is international in scope of responsibility because the department provides services to the company’s operations in North America and Europe as well as guidance to Asia on global accounting policies and procedures to maintain the general ledger in accordance with US GAAP. The Supervisor is charged with implementing accounting policies, procedures and processes that will provide accurate reporting of general ledger transactions meeting the objectives and policies of the Company.
- Hires, develops and supervises general accounting staff and prepares performance evaluations.
- Provides staff training and opportunities for professional development.
- Establishes and maintains standard training programs for onboarding within the department, as well as, for those departments that interact with General Accounting.
- Ensures that all general ledger activity, other than Cost activity, is translated to appropriate general ledger entries, performs various audits to ensure that data integrity is maintained throughout the process, and prepares the monthly, annual and statutory financial statements and related disclosures.
- Explains and develops improvements for future general ledger, internal control and financial reporting system implementation.
- Coordinates and assures the integrity and timeliness of the monthly and fiscal year-end closes, which consist of P&Ls, balance sheets and statements of cash flows for the US and worldwide organizations.
- Plays a central role in the annual audit of the Company’s consolidated financial statements as well as the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and notes and disclosures.
- Plays a central role in the preparation of financial information for entities that are subject to statutory audits.
- Review of staff journal entries, account analyses, bank reconciliations.
- Oversees the execution of the allocations of fringe expenses, engineering costs, Lab and R&D costs, selling costs and general and administrative costs as well as maintenance of the allocations and/or modifications to execute changes in the allocation methodologies.
- Ensures compliance on census reporting requirements.
- Participates or leads miscellaneous projects and assignments.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Work requires an understanding US GAAP and, increasingly, IFRS, and the ability to correctly apply their measurement and reporting guidance to a matter at hand.
- Integrity and completeness of the general ledger is paramount. Therefore, the Supervisor must be able to identify standard tests or devise other tests as are required to ascertain that the general ledger is kept under control at all times.
- Work is non-standardized and widely varied, involving many complex and significant variables. Analytic ability and inductive thinking are required to devise new methods in situations where previously accepted methods have proven inadequate or obsolete.
- The ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to non-financial managers.
- Exposure to ERP systems is very desirable along with firsthand use of Consolidation and Financial Reporting packages such as SAP or Oracle.
- Position requires a minimum of 5 years of general accounting and/or cost accounting and/or business finance.
- Supervisory experience and/or demonstrated leadership ability.
- Four-year degree in accounting or finance is required; an MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting or relevant certifications, such as CPA or CMA, is desirable.
