This datacenter supports over 150K users in the US Army and hosts over 80 applications for the departments of the US Army.
ALTESS is a US Army Managed Service Provider, supporting Army IT applications across varying hosting scenarios.
Job Responsibilities:
This is a managed service provider (MSP) for Army IT systems and we support enterprise applications owners in migrating their systems into Amazon AWS and also provide sustainment services to support their applications. This position is for an administrator to support these applications from a migration, modernization, and sustainment role.
JOB DUTIES:
Collaborate with customers to understand their application environments, evaluate any architectural changes they may need, and develop an architecture that meets the application requirements and utilizes a cloud native approach as much as possible.
Prepare and submit build and process documentation internally and with external providers to facilitate application deployment and upgrades.
Deploy and sustain cloud infrastructure to support customer applications.
Provide daily administration of the Windows based Virtual Machines.
Harden the Windows based services per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls.
Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any Windows issues.
Coordinate and perform major OS version upgrades of virtual machines needing upgrades.
Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures).
Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of Windows based services
Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of customer application issues to include network, storage, operating system, and application-level analysis.
Amazon AWS Portal administration in support of the ALTESS cloud customers -add/modify/delete AWS resources, configuration of alerting and notifications, and general oversight of AWS resources.
Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.

3-5 years of experience in cloud security engineering, with a focus on RHEL and SAP environments
Expertise in building and maintaining RHEL images, specifically for SAP applications
3 years of experience with developing cloud system requirements (AWS and Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (GitLab, Jenkins)
In-depth understanding of security practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and network security (NIST and CIS Security frameworks)
Experience with STIGs and their application in securing systems
Experience in using Nessus for vulnerability scanning and remediation
