Job Description Summary and Responsibilities Teledyne Storm Microwave, a leading manufacturer of RF/microwave cable assemblies, is looking for a Machinist for our Woodridge, IL facility. The Machinist builds special tools and fixtures to support production lines and R&D projects. Responsibilities include: Independently setting up and operating various model shop machines and related equipment. Building new tools and fixtures as well as repairing existing ones per drawings, sketches, etc. Building/modifying low-run production items as needed to support orders. Building prototypes (dummy and working samples) of new products or modifying existing products. Supporting engineers in choosing the right technological processes, appropriate materials, heat treatment, surface finishing, plating and coating, drawing tolerances, etc. Performing preventative maintenance on shop equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, CMM, etc.) Working with purchasing to order shop materials and tooling as needed. Qualifications 2-year technical degree required; Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. 2 years in a Model Shop environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be mobile enough to move about the plant as needed to operate various machinery, pull, and move inventory, goods, and product. Lift, move and carry parts, bins, boxes, spools, etc., weight varies. Handle and assemble very small piece parts working both hands independently to complete complex assembly operations. Must possess intermediate math skills such as but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, conversions, some algebra, some trigonometry, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
