TITLE:   Electrician

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical circuits, systems and equipment; perform duties in collaboration with other trades areas as required in order to maintain District facilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
  2. Five (5) years of journeyman level experience as a skilled electrician
  3. State of Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
  4. Valid Arizona Driver’s License

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Install, maintain and repair a variety of electrical equipment and controls including lighting systems, branch circuitry, power distribution and control circuitry.
  • Install electrical services for new equipment including computer labs, recirculation desks, kitchen equipment, copiers, printers, A/C units, kilns, classroom relocations.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and service fire alarm systems for the safety of students and personnel.
  • Maintain and service intercom systems, kitchen equipment, and security systems.
  • Inspect and test various electrical systems for proper functioning.
  • Revamp electrical systems for remodels and renovations.
  • Support schools with electrical needs for other activities such as fund raising events, PTA events, and Kid Zone.
  • Maintain records on time, labor and materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to the electrical trade
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards and regulations
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions
  • Skill in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of electrical systems and components
  • Skill in the care and use of hand tools and equipment necessary to perform various electrical repair tasks
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Ability to use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Hazardous chemicals and dangerous machinery

Potential physical harm

Exposure to extreme weather conditions

Restricted movement, dirty environment

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT: 

Bend, stoop, and reach

Lift up to 80 pounds of materials

Climb to various heights and work in confined spaces

Drive District vehicle
