What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prize Validation Analyst (Customer Service) position at Tennessee Education Lottery?
The primary purpose for this position is to process claims presented by players of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation’s (TEL) instant and draw-style games and assist TEL’s Prize Validation department with daily operations, while providing quality customer service.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
The following duties are normal for this job and should not be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Validates and processes prize winners in accordance with TEL’s Prize Validation Policies and Procedures at TEL Headquarters, sell tickets, and explains how games are played, while providing quality customer service.
- Performs the daily reconciliation of the Prize Payment Check Register
- Performs daily (and/or shift) reconciliations for TEL Kiosk operations (verifying cash drawer(s), instant ticket inventory and prize payments)
- Prepares daily bank deposits for Kiosk
- Assists in the processing of all TEL miscellaneous claims issues, in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures
- Handles prize related security issues, such as receipt of damaged, blocked, and altered tickets, in accordance with TEL policies and procedures
- Ensures appropriate prize claims are reviewed for legally mandated collection of debt owed to other participating state agencies (debt setoff)
- Serves as liaison for problem claim issues, debt set off inquiries and identification issues
- Logs and records all incoming prize claim mail into the TEL’s mail logging system
- Processes mail-in prize claims and prize claims received from TEL district offices, communicating the outcome by issuing prize payment or appropriate correspondence to the player
- Responds to questions, complaints, and information by telephone, in person or by mail from players, employees, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma (or GED) required. Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related business field preferred.
A minimum of two years of related customer service, cash handling, and financial reconciliation experience (i.e. retail, banking, claims processing or call center environment). Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be substituted for required years of experience.
Other Qualifications:
Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills and customer service skills.
