Job Summary
Serves as the field representative supporting the TEC Contract Construction Manager (CCM) ensuring that products built are of the highest quality, environmentally sound, and compliant with TVA's standards (including safety).
Provides field technical support for a variety of construction tasks/specialty services such as site access, Right-of-Way (ROW) clearing, site preparation and restoration, the construction of transmission lines, substations/switchyards and related facilities, communication systems and towers, site grading, foundations and concrete structures, A&E construction labor, and turnkey/fixed price construction tasks in support of the TEC organization.
Serves as inspector of Transmission construction projects which include site access, Right-of-Way (ROW) clearing, site preparation and restoration, the construction of transmission lines, substations/switchyards and related facilities, communication systems and towers, site grading, foundations and concrete structures, A&E construction labor, and turnkey/fixed price construction tasks in accordance with assigned instructions or procedures.
Evaluates and resolves technical issues and/or interpretations for Transmission construction projects, ROW clearing and restoration where procedures do not give specific instructions. Escalates concerns to management if needed.
Presents TVA’s interpretation of questions pertaining to safety, environmental compliance, equipment utilization, required training, grounding, waste management, materials management, construction drawings, utility locates, siting, excavation, grading, landscaping, paving, foundations, or other aspects of the job.
Communicates information related to construction, scheduling, site access, material delivery, safety plan implementation, environmental compliance, asset records management, equipment testing, equipment/system return to operations, and job closure to project stakeholders at the direction of management.
Contacts property owners to obtain permission to cross their property with heavy construction equipment and materials. Assists with the investigation and settlement of crop and property damage reports and damage claims.
May use surveying equipment and makes necessary calculations to locate and lay out foundations for Transmission Line or Substation Structures and to provide elevation and alignment for substation site grading and drainage.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May technically direct and check work of lower level technicians and or craft personnel. May provide technical guidance to contract construction personnel as instructed by higher level management.
Supervision Recieved
Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems from higher level employees.

Minimum Qualifications (Consistent with Classification Standard)
Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements/Other Requirements
Associate degree in electrical, electronic and/or civil technology or equivalent education, training and/or experience. Medically qualified and capable of walking on rough terrain and working outdoors in seasonal weather and conditions. Expected to travel frequently and lodge at remote locations.
