LOCATION - Travelling/Jobsites
ABOUT THE JOB
The Junior Welder will perform all job duties under constant oversight from an experienced Welder. In addition to performing stick and mig welding, the successful candidate, with the assistance and oversight of an experienced welder, be able to perform or assist in tasks related to welding such as fit-up, preparation, repair, inspection, and post weld preparation. A Junior Welder will also be asked to assist with general site work such as loading and unloading equipment and materials, site clean-up and preparation, mobilization and demobilization to and from the jobsite and other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
- Follows welding procedure specifications when welding
- Performs quality welds to be able to pass radiographic interpretation
- Performs quality welds using various welding processes
- Assists with fit-up and preparation of welds
- Performs or assists with post weld cleanup and repair
- Communicates regularly with the Field Foreman with regard to issues and concerns on the job site
- Inspects all materials, equipment, and tools required to perform the work
- Maintains supplies, equipment, and tools
- Prepares the materials by clamping, cutting or applying chemical solutions to piping
- Examines completed welds to ensure they are free of defects, smooth, and functional
- Observes all safety regulations
- Complies with all HMT safety policies and programs
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Welding Certification from accredited school
- Working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME Codes and Standards
- Ability to troubleshoot and strong attention to detail
- Physical dexterity
- Must have, or be able to acquire, a current passport
- Must be willing to travel
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to gain access to federal installations
- Must be able to pass 2, 3, 4G plate test
- Must be able to weld on both carbon & stainless steel pipe
- Must have an understanding of how to read prints and written instructions
- Must be able to read technical procedures and materials
- Must be able to follow verbal directions
- Ability to read and write in English required
