Role Description In this role, you will lead engagement with utilities on a wide range of topics, including interconnection, electric and gas rates, EVSE infrastructure incentives, project scoping, timelines and cost. The Manager, Utility Engagement will drive our strategy on interconnection of EV charging hubs, providing input to the Site Acquisition and Project Development and Deployment teams. This is a critical role which will drive the success of the business by creating a smooth path to powering up our sites. You will report to the Director, Energy & Utilities. You will collaborate closely with the Regulatory, Construction, Finance and Product and Sales teams as well. You will leverage your in depth of knowledge of interconnecting large loads with utility and grid owners, working across Distribution and Transmission level interconnections. You will have a detailed understanding of the interconnection process, including engineering studies, application process, cost for interconnection and reimbursement of utility owned assets, and how this ties into the flow of building a large project. You will have familiarity with utility rates at both the Small Commercial and Industrial level, and have experience negotiating new tariff structures with utilities. Experience with utility incentive programs for interconnecting EV charging infrastructure is a plus. A growth mindset and the ability to innovate is a must for this role - you will encounter many “first of their kind” situations, and will have a hand in driving how the market develops. The ability to drive up the speed of interconnection while driving the cost down is critical for success in this role.
