Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Manage geotechnical engineering projects to ensure they are completed safely, on time, and within scope and budget. Responsible proposal scoping and for completing the project as per its contracted scope; monitor progress and performance against the project plan. Troubleshoot and recommend or resolve operational problems and minimize delays. May be responsible for resource management, project scheduling, budgets and forecasts, and working with external vendors, subcontractors or contractors. Conducts meetings and prepares reports to communicate the status of the project to project team and client. Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones. Will have responsibilities to communicate with the client and deliver work products to satisfaction of client. Coordinates effort with APR (senior project reviewer) to make sure that APR has opportunity to engage throughout the project, particularly at critical junctures. Is involved with initiating and approving invoices, preparing change orders, and collections.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Prepare and participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects in accordance with our Quality Manual.
- Under direct supervision, manager and be responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting or coordinating detailed phases of work for part of a major project or total of a project of moderate scope and complexity.
- Coordinate and provide assistance to other Project Managers (PMs) at office and regional level regarding field work with internal and external resources.
- Estimate costs, prepare proposals for future work while also tracking budgets and financials alongside PMs/APR.
- May assist environmental and other departments when scopes crossover or require additional guidance.
- May serve as project lead to set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff following best practices and training while also mentoring junior level staff.
- Performs scientific analyses on projects of own discipline or assist in performing and running calculations as part of geotechnical efforts.
- May attend on and off-site client meetings and interact closely with clients on projects.
- Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
- Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.
- Evaluates laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports conforms with quality standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field and a minimum of 3 years' experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
- Certification in field of expertise.
