Design Authority Director
The Natrium Design Authority Director reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Design Authority and is a position focused on the management of the Natrium Engineering Processes, Programs and Digital Engineering teams. In this role you will lead the development of new and innovative engineering tools to deliver TerraPower's Natrium advanced reactor design. The Design Authority Director will provide overall strategic direction for the department and for the Natrium project, including partner design organizations.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall strategic direction and goals for the department.
- Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, creative and technical oversight to department personnel.
- Interface with other Design Authority senior leaders on resource utilization, administrative and technical matters.
- Interface with partner design organizations for implementation and deployment of new tools, procedures, and training.
- Integrate the efforts of the Engineering Process, Engineering Programs, and Digital Engineering teams.
- Communicate progress and status to the Natrium project leadership and engineering staff.
- Implement an effective change management process across the department for all new and revised processes.
- Implement continuous improvement program for department.
- Hire and retain leadership and technical positions within the department.
- Interface with HR on department related issues.
- Ensure the department is adhering to corporate procedures/policies and the departments' activities are compliant with federal and local regulations.
- Coordinate budgets and financial planning for the department.
- Coordinate with other internal organizations including HR, Finance, Procurement, Licensing, Legal, to ensure department deliverables are met.
- Ensure compliance with engineering procedures and training.
- Support licensing activities associated with the department.
- Coordinate and lead planning efforts and maintain schedule.
- Support business development activities.
- Develop department specific operating procedures/processes.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- B.S. or higher in relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university and 20 years direct experience in an Engineering work environment.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Experience in leading large multi-disciplinary teams with personnel responsibilities.
- Experience in engineering program management across large organizations.
- Demonstrated success in project management of new initiatives and change management.
- Experience with continuous improvement, lean, and/or six sigma programs.
- Experience with new plant design efforts in a management role.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in nuclear quality programs, design control, and configuration management principles, practices, and tools.
- Experience working to ASME NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B programs.
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, able to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

Salary Range Level 14: $205,189 - $278,271
*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 - 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary bands. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
