This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Product Design Engineer.
JOB OBJECTIVE: Responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining RFID based hardware products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Proactively adhere to ISO compliant design and development process.
- Present product concepts to internal and external customers.
- Proficient use of Solidworks to generate drawings and capture all product design details.
- Author, execute and review test plans for troubleshooting, validation, and verification.
- Review peer work completeness and correctness.
- Evaluate and resolve technical feasibility, design optimization, and production issues.
- Apply test-driven development for all production output.
- Work closely with members of cross-functional team to achieve quality, timeliness, and other project goals.
- Generate and review user and technical documents for internal staff, external customers, certification, and compliance.
- Support Field Service, Production, Purchasing, Quality, Sales, Software Engineering, and Firmware Engineering as necessary to accomplish team goals.
- Present status, plans, discoveries and recommendations to team, management and company.
- Understand and comply with all departmental and company values, processes and standards.
- Understand and comply with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.
- Resolve critical customer issues to meet customer expectations by working with cross-functional business areas.
- Support the Intellectual Property process by generating and reviewing required documents.
- Specify, recommend and source components for new designs.
- Support other cross-functional business areas by providing training, problem analysis and guidance.
- Provide off-hours emergency support as needed.
- Less than 10% travel, domestic or international.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering with a minimum of 3 years related experience, or related Associate's degree with additional training and a minimum of 5 years of demonstrable, related experience.
- Ability and desire to work across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software, process, etc.) as required to successfully complete development projects.
- Technology aggressive individual who seeks to continue improvement of their skills and are interested in sharing their expertise with others.
- An energetic self-starter focused on getting results.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, small, self-governed team with frequent changes in priorities and assignments.
- Demonstrable experience and proficiency in developing and supporting hardware products using design and drawing generation with Solidworks and CAD software, creating BOMs, and other technical documentation.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work both in a team environment and independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex problems or situations and develop a solution with backing research and data.
- Experience supporting the operation of production hardware including: the use of specialized testing equipment; and statistical data analysis and report generation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with RFID or EPCIS GS1 standards.
- Familiarity with PCB analysis and development tools.
- Project management experience.
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical design and assembly.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional use of power tools for prototype assembly and modification.
- Ability to perform prototyping related construction and assembly.
- Ability to work with telephone and computer equipment.
