What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Process Manager position at Tesla?
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead, support, and manage a team of supervisors and process technicians in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate is a self-starter with strong leadership capabilities that can manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time. This leader will build a team that can work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and other departments in leading process initiatives.
What You’ll Do- Mentor and develop a strong, motivated team through selective recruiting, thorough and consistent on-boarding, training and coaching, and identifying and addressing competency gaps within team
- Develop training programs and hiring plans for Process Technician team members
- Refine competency matrix for Process Technicians and create robust development plans for team members to drive growth and engagement
- Align projects to achieve department goals by managing operations and driving metrics against aggressive targets in critical areas of the production floor
- Build strong collaboration between the Process Technician and Engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and optimization via first-pass yield improvement projects, scrap reduction, and excursion root cause analysis
- Create and sustain a quality-first culture on the Process Technician team where technical excellence and competent problem solving are prioritized
- Management of team includes proactively planning for labor needs during production ramp up, communicating job expectations, performing employee performance and objectives reviews, and managing team in alignment of company policies and procedures
- Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their team’s safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuously improve operations
- Experience in selecting and developing new team members
- 2 years of experience managing teams of people in a high-volume manufacturing setting
- 2 years of direct experience improving yield and solving problems in a high-volume manufacturing setting preferred
- Strong organization and record-keeping skills with attention to detail to maintain team accountability
- Ability to work and lead effectively with team and peers within a production and engineering organization.
- Enthusiastic, innovative, and take-charge attitude. This candidate works independently and sets the team’s priorities based on competing and urgent needs of the business.
- Proficient in lean manufacturing methodologies and leadership
- Strong data collection and analytical capability; familiarity with analytical and statistical software systems
- Ability to work with and develop production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs)
- Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly and teaching them to others
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence in presenting to upper management
- Demonstrates adherence to EHS regulations and standards and leads by example
- Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills; able to interface with executives and leaders on a daily basis
- Fluent with common MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Salary : $82,700 - $105,000
