Tetra Tech is seeking a Survey Technician for our Irvine, CA office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Survey Technician works directly with our survey and engineering professionals to perform surveying and mapping activities. Because of the nature of our business, the position involves a significant amount of field work during the data gathering phase of projects. While working in the field, you have the opportunity for hands on operation of total stations and GPS receivers. Along with the technical aspects of the job, certain assignments will involve cutting brush, setting monuments and operation automatic levels. With the date collected, office based tasks will include data conversion, data analysis, and mapping.
Successful candidates will be able to travel and perform a physically demanding job. Some jobs will require week long trips away from the home office. Qualified candidates must be able to lift and carry over 40 lbs. for extended distances across rough terrain. Desirable skills include being able to operate survey grade land surveying equipment including: digital levels, total stations and GPS units. Candidates must also demonstrate proficient skills in technical writing and verbal communication. The Survey Technician will work both independently and in project teams, must be able to follow instructions, and be able to work directly with clients while working on a project.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
A demonstrated ability to use Autodesk products is desired, as well as the ability to use MS Word for creating technical documents and ability to use MS Excel to create spreadsheets and manipulate and present tabular data. A valid California State driver’s license is required.
Salary Range: $32-$33/hr
