The Digital Designer will create, manage, and produce digital design solutions for websites, email templates, social media graphics, promotional campaigns, and web applications. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Prefer Bachelor’s degree in digital design, web design or related degree 2 years of relevant experience with digital, email, web and/or UX design Prefer experience and understanding of email best practices, specifically designing for custom-coded responsive emails Prefer experience with HTML and CSS coding Skills/Knowledge and Abilities Working knowledge of: HTML, CSS, and Javascript for web and email, website design practices, responsive design principles for mobile design Capable graphic design skill and technical proficiency Proficient knowledge of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite Basic understanding of user experience design best practices and HTML/CSS Project Management across multiple projects and prioritize Prefer working knowledge of UX/UI and WCAG accessibility best practices Prefer basic understanding of content management systems, SEO principles, and cross-browser compatibility Prefer ability to create digital animations for video, social media, email, and the web Prefer understanding of emerging trends in email marketing, such as Dark mode; interactive adaptive content, responsiveness across devices, esps, and clients Responsibilities Creative and Digital Awareness - Maintains knowledge of emerging and current design trends and technology advances to continually improve the creative process for our team., Creative Development and Production - Utilizes the latest trends, practices, and technologies in design for the basis of design direction, establishing design guidelines, standards, and best practices. Aligns all work with the university brand guide and establishes a design framework that creates a cohesive experience across platforms. Manages multiple projects and priorities while providing expertise in the development, evaluation, and creation of effective digital communication strategies. Develops the creative direction for marketing materials such as emails, email newsletters, presentation templates and other digital media. Prepares wireframes, layout, and design in the development of effective, responsive and accessible web sites. Communicates design ideas with user flows, process flows, site maps, and wireframes. Creates successful, polished email designs for various products and communication initiatives. Creates motion graphics for use on websites, email and for all digital media including social media and digital signage. Maintains documentation for each project including approvals, comments, drafts and artwork. Works closely with the Design and Communication Teams to fulfill support requests including email design, website graphics, social media campaigns, online presentations and more. Works closely with Project Managers, the Communication Team and Developers to design and execute website projects. Assists with meetings during project kick offs and design presentations. Provides basic feedback to developers specific to functionality and UX layout coding. Maintains the appearance of websites by enforcing design standards. Design Strategy, Leadership and Administrative Support - Researches, evaluates, and determines the best graphic design approach to create effective marketing and communications materials, projects and priorities. Creatively devises new solutions for communication challenges for the Division of IT. Works with stakeholders to create and implement materials to reach intended audiences. Understands the benefits and limitations of software options and provide recommendations for the best tools to use to communicate effectively. Coordinates the research, evaluation, selection, and purchase of hardware, software, and consulting services and recommend solutions. Coordinate with vendors to request quotes, arrange delivery schedules, and negotiate products and services. Provides technical oversight of junior team members consisting of designers, technicians, or student workers for all design projects. Collaborates and mentors team employees by sharing knowledge and information to creatively meet team goals. Assists with planning, organizing, and budgeting for the team. Maintains inventory of operating supplies. Professional Development - Participates in opportunities for professional development in design, emerging digital communication strategies and training.
