GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.
Performs Complex (journey-level) credentialing work in support of the Texas Department of Motor Carrier Division (MCD) Credentialing Section. Work involves receiving and reviewing Credentialing applications, ensuring compliance with applicable state statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; communicating with external and internal customers; and approving and issuing credentials. May train others in areas of responsibility related to the issuance of Motor Carrier Credentials. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Receives and reviews Intra Operating Authority and Unified Carrier Registration applications, re-registrations, renewals and necessary supporting documentation.
Inputs Credentialing applications, payments, and required technical data to issue credentials in the Motor Carrier Credentialing System (MCCS) and National Unified Carrier Credentialing System (UCR).
Maintains records associated with Credentials, applications and fee payments.
Assembles, examines and approves documents necessary for the issuance of credentials.
Provides administrative and technical assistance related to the issuance of credentials and the use of MCCS and UCR to the agency staff, government and elected officials.
Answers questions, provides training in the use of MCCS and UCR and the issuance of credentials and related laws, rules, policies and procedures.
Provides interpretations and clear explanations of laws, rules, policies and procedures relating to credentials and the use of MCCS and UCR to internal and external customers. Works with external agencies including Federal, State and local transportation agencies and State and local law enforcement agencies to provide for the proper issuance of credentials.
Approves or denies credential applications based on laws, rules, policies and procedures. Works with applicants to correct deficiencies in applications with the goal of satisfying all existing credentialing requirements.
Provides or conducts efforts including group or one on one training to internal and external customers related to the issuance of credentials and the use of MCCS and UCR.

Job offer and continuation of employment is contingent upon:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited two-year college plus two (2) years’ experience in customer service, permitting, or work related to the issuance of credentials for Motor Carriers. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience of the prorated part-time equivalent.)
