This is a great opportunity to join Texstar as an ISP Helper. A successful Installer will properly use methods and techniques to install, splice, and activate mainline cable. The ISP Helper will assist the Supervisor in the execution of building piping and cable system for the company. Must know telecommunication network structure; can read and interpret blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Ability to install coax/fiber from easement to termination
- Ability to pull coax /fiber in conduit and open-air risers
- Ability to core drill
- Ability to install lock boxes
- Ability to install EMT
- Ability to use proper use of hand tools, ladders, and equipment to assist in the completion of assigned projects
- Ability to install coax RG6 and RG59 (appropriate depths)
- Ability to read blueprints
- Cleans and maintains supplies, tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Lifts and manipulates splice enclosure and other plant and equipment
- Ability to work in cramped and or enclosed spaces for extended periods
- Work aloft, from a ladder, aerial lift device, or by gaffing
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
- Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
- Must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on-call
- Must be able to fill-out daily production reports, keep track of work hours.
- Ability to work in emergencies at night and weekends if needed, including but not limited holidays and extending days.
- Travel will be required
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Valid Driver’s License; CDL License is a plus
- Must be able to pass a DOT Physical to obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, background, and motor vehicle record check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- 6 months of experience in the construction industry
- Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities
Physical Requirements
- Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift.
- Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses and hardhat
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
- Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens.
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance
