We are offering a full-time opportunity for a member of the Test & Evaluation teams Flight Test Crew to provide system knowledge and experience in support of both laboratory and flight line operations on a variety of technologies, including Unmanned Aerial Systems for commercial and military programs. These advanced systems are experimental, cutting-edge technology that are intended to protect the warfighter in various theaters as well as provide civil support to commercial applications. This individual will have an opportunity to travel, test experimental military hardware, and grow in their role in a fast-paced environment. This individual will report to the Air Systems Test & Eval Manager.
The position involves supporting lab operations to include, small engine integration, component integration, modifications, and assembly and test of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs), remote products, and ground control technologies. This individual will work alongside System/Test Engineers putting the equipment through its paces to ensure a quality product makes it to the warfighter. Once the equipment is tested in the controlled environment of a lab, it will go through a field flight or functionality test where this individual must be willing to support at remote test sites for UAS to include serving as a crew chief and support member during field testing. Operate lab test equipment for simulation and other test tools beyond the standard system. Use small hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, taps, and drills. Identify and document work order instruction or drawing errors. Assist engineering in investigation and issue resolution discovered from pre-release and released systems. May assist engineering in basic process development or evaluation.
A successful candidate will be a part of a test team that will work through all aspects of the engineering life cycle. Will provide technical troubleshooting, inspections, as well as the proper notation of logbooks and records to Unmanned Systems operations. Requires basic knowledge of procedures and technical theory in assigned product areas.
About This Role

- Assisting project engineering with all aspects of new product integration, implementation, and testing in both ground and flight environments
- Support of Experimental/Engineering test & integration flight profiles
- System capability demonstration flights, and ATP (acceptance tests profile) of both production and non-production TUAS platforms at operational locations around the globe
- Actively support lab operations by way of maintenance, safety audits, and material tracking
- Other related duties may occur on a situational basis and will be assigned as necessary.
- Duties and responsibilities will also require a substantial amount of travel both domestically and internationally in support of our product line and customer relations (not to exceed 50%)
- This position does not directly provide leadership or supervision to other employees.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Other Requirements
- FAA Class II Medical Certificate Required
- UAS operator on the Shadow 200(RQ-7B) experience is required
- Shadow V2 upgrade training completion is required
- 4 Years Shadow experience required
- 500 Shadow 200(RQ-7B) flight hours minimum, with at least 300 hours as Aircraft Operator position - other Class II or larger UAS's may be considered
- Prior qualification as an Instructor Operator through the Army Instructor Operator course or DES/Equivalent is preferred
- FAA licenses or certificates such as private pilot, commercial pilot, instrument rating, CFI, CFI-I are highly desirable
- Ability to coordinate flight schedules, airspace, resources, frequency management, and other aspects of flight operations
- Working knowledge of Military specifications is a plus
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office
- Must be a team player and able to work with minimum supervision
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance
- Ability to work a 4x10 schedule as well as outside standard business hours
Physical Requirements
- This position will be exerting up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Visual requirements is the minimum standard for those whose work deals largely with visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, computer terminal, and using measuring devices
- Candidates must be well-coordinated, manually dexterous, and flexible to work in tight quarters and confined spaces
