What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Assistant position at The Agricultural and Labor Program Inc?
The Human Resources Assistant assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources office. The HR Assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: administrative services, benefits & insurance, record-keeping, compensation, professional development, HRIS, departmental develop-ment, and employment. Assist the Director in performing a variety of routine and complex HR and risk management, technical and professional work: recruitment, workers compensation, background and employee screenings, insurance coverage, drug screening and training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Prepares correspondence, reports, memorandums, charts, tables, and documents as necessary in human resources.
? Verifies leave requests for employees and management. Reviews & Processes timesheets for accuracy and completeness.
? Maintains confidential files, including correspondence, reports, employee records, worker?s compensation, unemployment claims, student accident claims, and legal documentation.
? Assists in the management of the office by answering inquires from employees and the public providing limited poli-cy interpretations and general information. Makes referrals to the Department Director regarding policy interpreta-tions.
? Reviews employee actions for accuracy and completeness. Refers questions to Human Resources Director to obtain additional information from Department Directors as necessary. Refers non-routine inquiries to the Human Re-sources Director from department managers.
? Prepares correspondence and packets for mailing.
? Reviews employee data on new hires to ensure I-9?s are representative of Federal requirements. Reviews and inputs New Hire information and follows-up as needed with Human Resources Director.
? Enrolls employees in various agency benefits plans ensuring that employee applications for health insurances, credit union, direct deposit, COBRA, retirement, etc., are accurate and complete.
? Processes employment applications, position requisitions, reviews vacancy lists and recruitments submitted by departments; verifies requisitions are complete.
? Develops, posts, and advertises position vacancies as assigned; assists in the coordination of recruitment, interview-ing and selection processes. Keeps records of applicants not selected for employment.
? Review employment applications and evaluates work history, education and training, job skills, compensation needs, and other qualifications of applicants as assigned.
? Coordinates and performs new hire orientation.
? Prepares unemployment reports.
? Track attendance, FMLA, Credentials, Background screenings, Open positions, and other pertinent information as it relates to Human Resources.
? Report Workman?s Compensation claims to insurance carrier.
? Other duties as assigned.
