What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Assistant position at The Apple Club?
The Program Assistant must comply with the standards in the WAC.
Ministry-related duties:
The Apple Club is a Christian Based Before and After School Program. The ability to work within those parameters is required.
Official duties to include:
- Responsible for working with Site Coordinator in implementing the planned daily activities with individual children, and groups of children, as assigned.
- Interact with parents in a cooperative, professional manner.
- Ensure children are supervised at all times.
- Establish routines and provide positive guidance.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
- Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand. Implement positive discipline when required; referring to the Site Coordinator or Program Director for guidance as needed.
- Encourage children to verbalize needs, feelings, and ideas, helping children control behavior in a positive manner.
- Assist in serving snacks, and clean-up at transition times or end of shift.
- Weekly sanitizing of equipment and facility is required.
- Responsible for keeping areas of use organized throughout your shift.
- Maintain records as requested (accident reports, prompt parents to use sign in/out sheet).
- Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect to the Program Director immediately.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and required trainings.
- Other duties as needed.

There will be a 90 day probation period evaluation, thereafter annual performance evaluations will be conducted by the Site Coordinator and Program Director of The Apple Club.
Program Assistants must:
(a) Be eighteen years of age or older;
(b) Have a TB test as required;
(d) Have a background clearance
(e) Have current CPR and first-aid certification
(f) Complete HIV/AIDS training and annual bloodborne pathogens training
(g) Have a high school diploma or equivalent;
(h) Have a food worker card, if applicable; and
(i) Attend an agency orientation
(j) Complete the STARS Basic 20 hours training
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
