The Aspenwood Company has an opportunity for a full-time Sous Chef at our Wood Glen Court llocation an Assisted Living senior community.
Pay Rate: $17/hr.
Full Time:
6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
The Sous Chef is responsible for planning and directing food preparation. Supervision of kitchen staff, as well as monitoring for problems that arise in the kitchen and seizing control of a situation at a moment’s notice. Abides by and upholds company core values.
Must be able to work holidays/ weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the Executive Chef or Director of Dining Services to produce diversified menus in accordance with the Community’s policy and vision.
- Develop new dishes which appeal to the residents, whenever required
- Establish the work schedule and organize work in the kitchen so that all tasks are accomplished efficiently and with excellence.
- Produce high quality dishes that follow the established menu and standards.
- Train the kitchen staff in order to achieve the best for the nutrition and enjoyment of our residents.
- Maintain order and discipline in the kitchen at all times.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of complete meals - preparing and cooking soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, baked goods, etc.
- Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
- Check quality of ingredients.
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
- Member of the community’s emergency response team.
- Maintains a professional appearance and good personal hygiene per company policies.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED and training from a culinary school.
- Three to five years proven experience as a cook or 1 years as a Sous Chef.
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.), equipment and procedures.
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work as part of, and lead, a team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent physical condition and stamina
