General Manager (“GM”)

The Bank, Hilton Head’s Beer Garden (“The Bank”), is the premiere community—focused venue on Hilton Head Island. Inside the four walls of a 17,000 square foot former Bank of America branch, visitors will find attractions such as Side Hustle Brewing Company, Pizza Co, Bank Heist Burgers, Mo’ Money Tacos, a gift shop, and an original bank vault, stocked with freshly canned craft beer to go. Outside, The Bank’s beer garden boasts 55,000 square feet of good times generated by a teller window for ordering craft beer, food & beverages, a standalone armored car bar, delicious food from All About the Benjamins Seafood and Dollar Billy’s food trucks, unique drinks, live entertainment, a whiskey and cigar lounge and games. The best part? Everything is draped in low country swagger.

This venture is the beginning of Watterson Brands’ Moon King Entertainment Group, a diverse collection of thoughtfully curated, experiential venues that explore local history, culture, and cuisine while providing live entertainment and a sense of place.

Summary of Position:

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations (“VPO”) of Watterson Management, LLC, the GM will be responsible for the brand growth and financial profitability of The Bank. The GM will drive improvements to the bottom line, by leading efforts to increase visitors, control costs and ensure guest satisfaction while maintaining a positive and efficient work environment for team members. The GM will use superior customer service skills and extensive managerial experience to develop strong relationships with vendors and guests while leading a winning team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Position-specific responsibilities of the GM include, but are not limited to, the following. Note that the responsibilities are listed in alphabetical order and are not necessarily in order of importance.

  • Compliance. Ensure licensees and employees are following standards set forth by Moon King Entertainment Group including, but not limited to, those involving cleanliness, hours of operation, and menu offerings. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws and ordinances.
  • Entertainment. Oversee all aspects of entertainment and programming including scheduling of music and entertainment acts, audio/visual equipment maintenance and sourcing new entertainment for future consideration.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation. Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensure that a clean and organized environment is presented at all times. Maintain a professional restaurant, brewery and beer garden image including cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Guest Experience. Ensure guest satisfaction by managing staffing levels, managing the facility and reviewing verbal and online reviews. Follow up on negative experiences with coaching and, if necessary, discipline.
  • P&L Management. Positively impact the finances of the companies by managing labor, cost of goods sold and shared costs for the venue. Review monthly financial data and makes adjustments as necessary to maximize profits. Review historical data to manage the seasonality of the business.
  • Sales Growth. Grow sales through creating outstanding experiences, executing marketing plans and implementing new ideas. Watch trends in sales patterns to determine opportunities and strengths for the venue.
  • Team Management. Lead and manage The Bank Management team. Hold managers and hourly team accountable for their behavior and job duties.
  • Vendor Services Management. Manage all shared vendors and services including, but not limited to, waste management, common area preventative maintenance and HVAC preventative maintenance.
  • Workplace Safety. Ensure a safe environment for guests, employees and licensees to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Complete accident reports promptly if a guest or employee is injured.

Work Environment:

This job operates in both an office setting and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This job may entail occasional exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, and humidity. Occasional travel may be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, and stand. The employee might be required to reach, bend, stoop, crawl, carry, push, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
