The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley is searching for talented, dynamic and motivated youth-focused professionals to provide crisis intervention, prevention education, advocacy, outreach, case management, and other support services for youth and families experiencing challenges related to running away and/or transience and/or housing insecurities.

Primary Function
The AmeriCorps Program Assistants will use a best-practice, trauma-informed approach to working with at-risk, runaway, transient, and homeless youth and families involved with the Home Base program. Program Assistants will work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, as well as a part of a larger collaborative community agency. Program Assistants will conduct crisis intervention and response, hotline response, street and community outreach, educational programming, small wellness groups, connection to resources, and additional support activities to youth and families in the service area.

Term Length/Time Commitment
These positions are funded through the AmeriCorps National Community Service program. The term of service is a one-year commitment and runs from September 2021 through August 2022.

  • Full-Time – Members must complete 1,700 hours within the service year, which averages about 32 hours per week. Full time members receive a yearly living allowance of $15,100 which equates to about $629.17 (with less withholdings), paid out on the 15th and the last day of each month. Members that fulfill their yearly hourly commitment receive an education award at the conclusion of their term of service. The 2021-22 education award amount is $6,345. Flexible schedule required. Primarily daytime hours with occasional evenings/weekends.
  • Part-Time – Must complete 900 hours within the service year, which averages about 17 hours per week. Part time members receive a yearly living allowance of $7,994 which equates to about $333.08 (with less withholdings), paid out on the 15th and last day of each month. Members that fulfill their yearly hourly commitment receive an education award at the conclusion of their term of service. The 2021-22 education award amount is $3,172.50. Flexible schedule required. Primarily daytime hours with occasional evenings/weekends.

Health and Childcare Benefits
Health insurance is available for full-time members provided they are not covered under another policy. Family members are not eligible for coverage. WAHRS will provide a policy that meets requirements of the Affordable Care Act. Childcare benefits are also available for full-time members who meet income requirements.

Preferred Education and Experience
Successful candidates will demonstrate outstanding communication skills, knowledge of youth issues, and have previous experience working with at-risk youth. High School diploma required. Experience in Social Work and/or other Human Services fields preferred. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
