Summary

The Carolina Inn Lead Bartender will greet guests in the Inn dining areas and provide world class beverage and food service for the duration of their visit. Duties will include but are not limited to: preparing beverages; processing orders and payment transactions; engaging guests; and coordinating service for assigned area(s). Bartenders will deliver gracious hospitality and ensure all guests receive friendly, courteous and prompt service at all times following prescribed and established Carolina Inn service standards. In addition, staff will provide general support for the restaurant/hotel team, leadership, and company. The Lead Bartender will serve as liaison to upper management in all things pertaining to bar service, cocktail menu cultivation and staff education. The training of new bartenders, staff spirit-guidance, and presentation of craft cocktails fall under the responsibility for the Bar Lead.

Qualifications
. Greet and engage guests while delivering top-notch service and presentation.
2. Take orders, utilizing product knowledge and suggestive selling techniques.
3. Enter orders into POS system accurately; track tabs, charges, etc. for end of shift reconciliation.
4. Serve food and beverages in a friendly, efficient manner according to Carolina Inn standards.
5. Pre-bus/bus dirty glassware, dishes, and other items quickly; keep bar and public areas neat, clean, and free of debris at all times.
6. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
7. Resolve guest complaints/issues to standards.
8. Opening/closing duties/responsibilities as assigned. Maintaining bar prep and delegating systems to ensure ingredient production.
9. Take a leadership role as bar service liaison to management and leadership teams.
10. Maintain complete product knowledge, pars and monthly inventory.
11. Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by North Carolina liquor regulations, service procedures, and standards, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
12. Be familiar with all Carolina Inn services and features, activities and special events in order to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Train servers and new bartenders on proper bar procedures, new spirits and cocktails.
2. Follow recipes using proper and contemporary techniques. Craft and create seasonal cocktail menu, and meet specific deadlines based on the role.
3. Create, prepare and maintain house-made syrups, shrubs, tinctures and bitters.
4. Lead tasting and cocktail/spirit presentations to upper management and special groups.
5. Menu maintenance and formatting.
6. Provide general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company as required.
7. Creatively assists other bar outlets in The Carolina Inn in special events, cocktail creation, and general education of new spirits on property.
8. Help to create, adjust and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for bar staff, helping to achieve efficiency and top-quality output in their roles.
Qualifications
1. High school diploma (or GED). Additional training/certification(s) preferred. Ability to obtain TIPS, ALE and other related training required.
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience bartending, preferably in an upscale or fine dining environment. Preferred candidates would have at least 1-2 years of experience crafting and creating their own cocktails (with or without a portfolio). Ideal candidates will have at least one (1) year of bar management experience.
3. Level 1 sommelier and cicerone certification preferred (possible opportunity to attain upon employment).
4. Strong spirit and classic cocktail knowledge. Ability to research and stay in touch with current liquor and cocktail trends.
5. Some experience in using percentages and pricing menu items based on cost and spirit rarity.
6. Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills; must be able to engage with wide variety of guests and interact in a friendly and professional manner.
7. Proactive; exercises good judgment; can creatively problem solve and anticipate needs of guests; keen attention to detail with a focus on quality and service.
8. Strong organizational skills; must be able to multi-task and prioritize work.
9. Passionate, creative and dedicated to their craft; career-oriented, someone looking to go above and beyond. The ideal candidate would be someone looking to take on a leadership role while growing within a constantly evolving bar program.
10. Must be 21 years of age or older.
