Registered Dietitian

Purpose: Oversees the nutritional well-being of patients and the community. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of conducting nutrition assessments, identifying patients at risk and creating diet plans. Job does require some travel to Dunkirk, NY.

Job Duties:

• Ensures patients’ nutrition plan selections are in compliance with prescribed diet order, nutritional adequacy, age, cultural background, and religious practice.
• Writes and modifies nutrition plans as needed according to patient diet prescription using established resources/guidelines.
• Provides cooking demonstrations for community members and patients
• Updates, monitors, and follows-up on all pertinent patient information like diet order changes, food allergies, food preferences, and requests.
• Prints and processes meal plans and food tally report.
• Serves as a dietary resource for nursing and other staff.
• Provides general information on diet utilizing approved materials and resources.
• Incorporates physical activity plans as part of the overall diet and wellness outcomes
• Works in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team
• Attends meetings, coalitions, committees as assigned
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in food, nutrition, food service management, or related field
• Registered Dietitian (RD) by Commission on Dietetic Registration
• NYS License
• Accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) by the American Dietetic Association (ADA)
• Food Handler’s permit or ServeSafe certification as per state requirements
