About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking a Facility Operations Supervisor for the Capital Projects Management Department, Facility Operations Division. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day aspects of facility operations at various city-owned buildings, ensuring readiness, cleanliness, and maintenance standards are met.
What you’ll be doing:

Directs the activities of operations workers, ensuring schedules are followed and decisions are made on various problems.

Works with the manager to ensure setup activities and custodial needs meet facility-wide standards.

Ensures department policies and procedures are followed to maximize efficiency.

Inspects work areas to ensure quality and adherence to safety procedures.
-
Oversees inventory control and routine maintenance of cleaning equipment.

Conducts restroom quality assurance walks and dispatches staff as needed.

Performs general routine cleaning and maintenance of buildings and facilities.

Notifies management of the need for general repairs and safety concerns.

Assists in the development of safety and emergency procedures for the department.

Communicates daily with management and provides excellent customer service.

Performs basic operational duties as a working supervisor.

Ensures staff performance expectations are communicated and maintained.

Evaluates staff to ensure safe work practices are met.

Completes required training or certifications in a timely manner.
Scope of Responsibility:

Some purchasing responsibilities.
-
No budgetary responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervises approximately 6 full-time employees in the Facility Operations department.

Some coordination may be required with contracted labor.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
-
Ability to work with limited supervision and supervise staff.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Strong commitment to customer service and maintaining a professional atmosphere.

Extensive knowledge of operational procedures of venue facilities.
-
Strong understanding of operations equipment and facility housekeeping standards.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
-
High School Diploma (H. S.) and 3 years of previous related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Demands:

Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, unassisted.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Work Environment:

Moderate noise level in the work environment.
Travel Required:

Travel within the city limits to various city-owned buildings.
Salary:
$25.61/hour
Work Schedule:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 PM to 5:00 PM
