GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
This position would be responsible for assisting with the general maintenance and grounds keeping work as required to maintain the appearance at the Miramar Regional Park. This position also involves assisting with the planning, coordinating and implementing recreational programs that meets the need of the community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist with the planning, coordinating and implementing recreational activities and events that meet the needs of the community.
Opens and closes the park and buildings as necessary, as well as being responsible for field lighting.
Performs maintenance and security work at the regional park facility, maintaining interior and exterior of buildings in a clean and orderly condition.
Assists with the registration of customers for programs.
Assists with the Inspection of the park, its playgrounds, ball fields, shelters, buildings and open spaces and notifies his supervisor of his/her findings.
Assists or relays information to his/her supervisor if a patron is interested in reserving specific park areas. Relay any inquires, concerns, or complaints of customers and/or the general public.
Promotes good public relations with citizens using the park and recreation facilities.
Responsible for reporting any safety concerns to his / her supervisor or superintendent.
Assists with gate admission program fees if requested.
Performs general office duties as required, answering telephones, copying and filing documents, faxing information, assembling material, etc.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with the public.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Some knowledge of safety hazards inherent in the use of the playground or other facilities and the necessary precautionary measures.
Some knowledge of the operational and maintenance requirements of typical park facilities and equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
Must be flexible with you schedule, able to work in addition to days, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various park and recreation programs and events; prepares facilities for recreational use.
Assists with various logs, records and reports.
Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a high school diploma or high school GED or at least 18 years old and two or more years of experience in park and recreation operations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state class "E" drivers license or above. May be required to pass a boating course and/or obtain certification in first aid and CPR.
Emergency Management Responsibilities:
Note: During emergency conditions, all City of Miramar employees are automatically considered emergency service workers. City of Miramar employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
It is the responsibility of the candidate to maintain their licenses and/or certifications as a job requirement.
