What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist position at The City of Sumner?
The Receptionist receives visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately. Answering screening and forwarding incoming phone calls. Receiving and sorting daily mail.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to our clients both in person and on the phone.
- Direct calls to the appropriate parties.
- Take and relay detailed messages when required.
- Maintain a professional office environment.
- Provide administrative support to team members.
- Maintain office filing and storage systems.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail for distribution.
- Provide basic administrative support, assigned daily tasks and projects.
- Faxing, scanning, and copying of documents.
- Ensure office equipment is properly maintained and serviced.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Experience and education
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database software applications as well as the ability to learn new computer system
- Exceptional organizational skills, close attention to detail, and the capacity to simultaneously handle multiple activities with changing priorities
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, and ability to work with a variety of personalities
Physical requirements and working conditions
- Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; noise level is usually moderate.
- All employees may be required to visit a customer site and/or complete a ride along with a field technician as part of their employment.
