Position Description:
Under administrative direction, responsible for the activities of the Patrol Division or an assigned division, including supervising the activities of Dispatch, Property, Investigation and the Departmental Training Program. Conduct Internal Affairs Investigations. Perform a variety of special or on-going managerial assignments. Perform related duties as assigned. The Police Lieutenant is the management level class responsible for administrative, supervisory and technical duties in leading a division program level functions within the department. Employees in this class command an assigned division, watch, or program unit. This classification serves as the Police Departments second in command and is responsible for overseeing all police operations and assumes command of the department in the absence of the Police Chief.
