What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Nursing (DON) position at The Clare?
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining quality of care throughout our healthcare community. They will also be required to manage and train our nursing staff. The ideal candidate for this position has previous experience in a nursing leadership position, a strong ability to work with a team, and an in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry. The Director of Nursing works collaboratively with the Administrator to ensure an extraordinary quality operation, and builds and maintains relationships with physicians, therapists and hospitals to ensure the finest care for our patients and their families.
The DON is supported by a great team which includes the ADON, Nurse Supervisor and Scheduler.
All candidates will be required to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical exam.
All positions in the community may require that we ask about your vaccination status. This could include MMR, chicken pox, hepatitis, flu and COVID-19 vaccine status. Please note that all employees are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required (Master’s degree preferred)
Valid RN license
Some experience as an LTC nurse preferred
Must display an understanding of local, state and federal laws and guidelines
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a team
Knowledge and understanding of geriatric specific population needs
Previous management/ supervisory experience
Excellent clinical skills -Ability to critically think and work both independently and with a team
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Have the ability to speak professionally and with confidence about assisted living and skilled nursing services to both groups and individuals
Ability to use initiative, judgment and resourcefulness, and to make decisions
Knowledge of Medicare Utilization, MDS/RAI assessment process, certification and licensure survey process, and state and federal regulations
