Barista/Cashier

About the Position:

The CRO Cafe is looking for experienced baristas for both opening / mid / and closing shifts on weekends at our shop in Temescal Alley. This position can be full or part-time, depending on the fit. The coffee shop has a friendly neighborhood vibe and we are looking for reliable, responsible, helpful, and upbeat employees who can help us maintain a great cafe atmosphere in our community.

Compensation:

***Tips are great at this location - our payroll software reports folks are taking home between $23-35/hr after tips***

Responsibilities:

-self manage and work independently

-collaborate with other baristas and be proactive about keeping the space clean and functional at all times

-ring up orders and accurately record transactions in the Square POS system

-set up and break down cafe space in a consistent and orderly manner

-track and update inventory using Square and Bev Spot systems

-receive and unpack delivery orders and properly organize and store inventory

Qualifications:

-3 years barista experience preferred

-ability to move and lift up to 25 lbs

-ability to stand on feet for entire shift

-ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays

-ability to handle kitchen tools and ingredients in a safe, organized, and professional manner

-direct, professional, and honest communication

-genuine and positive attitude and willingness to engage with customers

-strict adherence to food safety codes

In your application please include an honest rating of your experience level on bar:

1) EXPERT- can dial in tricky espresso by adjusting dose and grind to achieve a recipe that produces a balanced flavor profile in the shot. Can steam all milks for all drinks with temperature and texture consistency, a Minimum of milk waste, and create latte art. Can manage a rush on the bar (solo) with efficiency and cleanliness.

2) GOOD- can maintain a good dial-in so long as there is a recipe and espresso is behaving. Can steam all milks and pour latte art/ can hold down a reasonable/mildly busy solo shift and work well with a mid-shift person

3) TRAINING- needs to learn to dial espresso, needs to practice latte art/not comfortable yet with a solo shift.

COVID-19 considerations:
By nature of the space we are in a pretty low exposure situation. We are dialing back our covid requirements such that Masks are optional. We are returning to In-Store ordering.
