The Economist is looking for an experienced Mobile Engineer to join our flagship mobile app engineering team.
We are investing in our mobile app experience as an essential window into our outstanding content, audio and video. We’re growing our engineering team to help our users find, watch and read more of our content, to keep coming back and to increase customer loyalty.
You’ll work in an agile environment, releasing quickly and often to the app stores to ensure quick feedback loops around the success or not of our features and experiments.

Accountabilities
- Reporting to the Engineering Manager within a squad/team
- Working with other engineers, designers and product owners in cross-functional teams
- Working alone or in groups
- Working in native iOS/Android and React Native
- Bring features from specification to production
- Working to produce high-quality, testable and observable solutions
Experience, skills and professional attributes
- Commercial experience in mobile development, you have worked in either Android, iOS or React Native
- A love of mobile user interface best practices and an understanding of the impact it has on customers interactions with products
- Experience writing automated tests and using observability tooling to measure reliability and performance
- You’ll value well-thought-out and straightforward solutions to problems
- A bias for action - you'll have been the person driving culture and positive change within your team in your previous role
- Good technical project management skills, taking a set of requirements, breaking the work down, and communicating requirements is second nature
