Job Status:  Full Time; Salaried

BACKGROUND:

The Entrepreneurs’ Center (EC) is a modern economic development organization that powers progress and prosperity through entrepreneurship and innovation. Annually, the EC works with over 1,000 entrepreneurs to start and grow companies, create jobs, generate revenue, and attract investment. The EC empowers startups and small businesses in technology, lifestyle, and research sectors through complimentary professional services including: business planning, mentoring, training, networking, marketing and commercialization. The EC's talented and experienced team of advisors, entrepreneurs-in-residence, and staff design and facilitate diverse, world-class business acceleration programs on behalf of higher education institutions, government agencies - including the U.S. Department of Defense, among many others, from their headquarters at The Hub in the historic Arcade downtown Dayton, Ohio.

The EC seeks to add a Portfolio Manager to its ESP Team.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Entrepreneurs’ Center (EC) Portfolio Manager will support various components of EC and its Entrepreneurial Services Provider (ESP) program. Critical to the position is coordinating direct support to ESP clients, broad portfolio management, managing Executives/Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs), and developing and implementing systems to enable efficacious service to clients. In addition, the incumbent must represent EC in various capacities, both during ESP events and externally. 

 

JOB DUTIES:

        Portfolio Client Management (40%):

o   Management and understanding of clients in the ESP Portfolio

o   Assist in metrics gathering from portfolio companies

o   Communication to portfolio

o   Onboard new portfolio clients (with EIR)

o   Refer services and identify needs of clients individually or as a portfolio

o   EIR and SME assignment and management

        EIR Management (20%):

o   Coordinate the activities and efforts of consultants serving as EIRs for ESP client companies

o   Plan and run regular meetings for the EIRs, including identifying appropriate guest speakers and topics for regular training

o   SME Network Management

        Programmatic Support (20%):

o   Support EC Training activities, including the ESP Bootcamp

          Assist in facilitating or leading entrepreneurial workshops, training programs, events, and bootcamps

o   Provide client intake / onboarding support as needed, coordinating closely with the intake process performed by the Innovation Manager

o   Coordinate closely with Prospect Academy activities carried out by Innovation Manager

o   Assist and implement training of portfolio companies on relevant topics

o   Assist and implement training of EIRs on relevant topics

o   Assist with the engagement and disengagement process, coordinating closely with the Contracts Manager

o   Identify and build relationships with suitable, future EIR candidates

        Coordination of Services (10%):

o   Participate in the ESP Resource Request process

o   Participation in the ESP Selection Committee process

o   Assist the management of EC Market Research Interns

o   Develop and maintain relationships with Investment groups including Angels, Pre-Seed Funds, and Venture Funds who may be interested in portfolio companies

        Special projects as directed (10%)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

        Bachelor's Degree in a Business-related discipline

        Minimum 5 years of venture or management experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Position is typically office or administrative work and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

This position will be a blend of in-office, in-field (meeting with entrepreneurs), and virtual. Candidates are expected to be in the office at least once per week.

Some domestic travel, though rare, may be required.

Salary : $70,000 - $95,000
