Immediate opening for a Wound Care Nurse (RN) for Weekend shifts 7p -7a. The perfect candidate will strive to make a difference in the lives of others by being compassionate, dependable, and providing the high level of quality care that our residents deserve.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Wound Care nurse will deliver quality wound care and preventative measures to maintain skin integrity to assigned residents in compliance with applicable federal and state guidelines and established policies and procedures. The Wound Care nurse will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing or assigned designee.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Utilizes the nursing process by demonstrating appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of residents wound and skin integrity.

• Collecting and documentation of residents’ skin status including medical history.

• Wound care prevention and prevention through plan of care. Educates staff on the importance of quality care to prevent skin breakdown.

• Sets priorities for nursing action for wound care and prevention.

• Communicates with physicians regarding resident wound needs.

• Initiates nutritional interventions to ensure that residents with wounds are provided nutrition to promote wound healing.

• Performs direct resident care utilizing established procedure, policies, and standards.

• Administer treatments and procedures in accordance with the physician’s orders.

• Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each resident while performing treatments.

• Communicates and interacts effectively, courteously, and tactfully with residents, visitors, family members, peers, and supervisors.

• Conducts rounds frequently to ensure that residents with incontinence are receiving peri care and preventative ointments timely.

• Performs duties in a safe manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.

• Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves and proper disposal of soiled material.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Active State of Illinois RN License

• Minimum, two (2) years’ experience as an RN, prior long term care experience preferred.

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.

• Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

• Able to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.

• Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.

• Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
